Medical value: none.
Use: This tree is commonly implanted as lawn and ornamental tree. Withstands storm and weather. Used as wind protection and for reduction of noise pollution. Good for constructing furniture and violins. Also suitable for parquet, ballroom floors, carving and rifle butts. Sugar can be extracted from the sap.

NOTE: The leaves often show black stains caused by fungal disease.
